Dear Teachers,

Learning That Reflects the World Around Us
One of the most important things in early reading is that children can see themselves in what they read. Research shows that when children read texts that reflect their own lives and environments, they understand more easily, enjoy reading more, and feel more confident as learners.
When books connect to familiar places, experiences and traditions, reading becomes more meaningful and more memorable.

Building a Programme for the UAE
Monster Phonics is an international programme, used in classrooms around the world.
At the same time, we believe strongly that learning should reflect the world outside the classroom window.
Since going live in March, we have been developing and adding to a growing collection of UAE focused content. This includes lesson themes, eBooks and supporting videos that place local environments and experiences at the heart of learning.
In a short space of time, this has grown significantly, and we are proud of what is already in place.

Why This Matters
Research also shows that when children recognise what they are reading, they are more likely to engage, persist, and develop confidence as readers.
This is why cultural relevance sits alongside the structure and rigour of phonics teaching. It supports children not only in learning to read, but in wanting to read.

We Would Love Your Feedback
This is an evolving part of the programme.
As you begin using these resources, your feedback is incredibly important to us. If there are themes, contexts or ideas you would like to see more of, please do share them.
We are building this together.
With warm wishes,
Ingrid Connors
